Lighting Design and Live Event Technology

The entertainment industry is expected to require an additional 30,000 technical staff over the next decade. This is a huge growth sector in critical need of adept and qualified staff. You could be designing the lights and pyrotechnics for Britain’s Got Talent or stage managing an Arctic Monkeys concert at the O2.

Naturally to do all of this you will need to be dedicated and disciplined…and that’s just to achieve a good degree. But, combine our technical expertise and your enthusiasm with our state-of-the-art facilities and the world of entertainment could be your oyster.

Our BSc (Hons) Lighting Design and Technology , BSc (Hons) Live Event Technology and Foundation Degree Lighting, Sound and Live Event Technology courses are very unusual. They focus on the technological and scientific elements, whilst also recognising the artistic input. These are not “performance” based courses like those found more commonly in theatre schools.

At Glamorgan you can become qualified in IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations – a primary example of how we have developed these courses according to industry requirements. On completion of these courses you will be ready for employment in entertainment, broadcasting and live performance. We are the only WYSIWYG centre (What You See Is What You Get) outside London. Find out how this can benefit you and your career.
