Knowing how electrical products work is one thing, but being able to apply the mathematical theory behind it and utilise your creativity to design a suitable system is something quite different.
Our suite of electrical engineering degrees, which includes BEng honours degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering and Electronic and Communication Engineering, will provide you with everything you need to begin your career as a Chartered Engineer. We also offer a new course in BSc (Hons) in Renewable Energy Systems
More able students enrolled on BEng courses may be offered the opportunity to change to an MEng degree. This is a five-year undergraduate sandwich course which leads to a masters level qualification. All BEng and MEng students take the same modules in the first year. Initial selection for the MEng is based on academic achievement in the first year, with final selection taking place at the end of the second.
Industry accreditation
Our Electronics degrees have been accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for more than 30 years. The BEng (Hons) and MEng degrees have the highest accreditation, meaning that graduates from these courses either partially (BEng) or fully (MEng) meet the IET’s requirements to become a Chartered Engineer, a higher level qualification than that of Incorporated Engineer.
All our graduates go into the workplace with a host of opportunities. MEng graduates typically become senior managers in major corporations. Graduates may also go on to develop and produce communication systems, computer hardware or software.
Career opportunities exist in a wide range of engineering sectors including design, manufacturing, and research and development. Graduates can work in a variety of industries including medicine, communications, computing, aerospace or the military.
