We have four new courses starting in September created in response to industry demand and designed in consultation with business.
At a time where fossil fuel reserves are dwindling and the global demand for energy is increasing, there is a demand for graduates with the technical understanding and knowledge of energy systems. With this in mind, we have created a new undergraduate course in Renewable Energy Systems. Graduates will have sound technical understanding and knowledge of the generation, distribution and utilisation of electricity with a focus on renewable energy sources together with appreciation of global systems as well as sustainable development, business, policy and process.
This course will equip graduates with the skills that they need to work in the exciting and expanding area of renewable energy systems. There is a growing global demand for sustainable energy supply and for distribution and storage solutions.
In our Department of Built Environment we have a new BSc Project Management Surveying course, which is RICS-accredited. With over three decades’ experience in educating construction and surveying professionals, we’re confident that this course will produce graduate project management surveyors who are industry-ready.
Study will include current practice and procedure surrounding project management of new build and refurbishment projects. Students use practical examples from industry-based case studies to build problem solving skills in a construction context.
There are various employment opportunities in this field, nationally and internationally. Graduates could work in private practice, property departments, construction companies, central and local government or be self-employed.
At a postgraduate level we have two new courses, both RICS-accredited.
The MSc Building Information Modelling and Sustainability is designed for graduates who wish to develop the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the rapidly evolving area of Building Information Modelling (BIM), used throughout the construction project and the property lifecycle.
Our new MSc Asset Management and Development is designed to develop your knowledge and practical skills preparing you for a variety of management and development roles in the surveying sector. This course will particularly appeal to you if you are interested in entering the regeneration profession, while providing the core skills needed for general practitioners.
