Faculty links with Singapore to deliver computing awards

The Faculty of Advanced Technology and the Beacon School of Technology Singapore are offering two BSc courses in partnership.
- BSc Computer Systems Security
- BSc Information Systems Engineering
What will students in Singapore gain?

Who are Beacon?
Beacon School of Technology is an existing partner of the Faculty of Advanced Technology. They are a private educational institution registered by the Ministry of Education in Singapore. The School was set up to provide quality education to students who aspire to pursue a degree in the areas of Information Technology or Business.
How will I be taught?
The whole course will be taught in Singapore at the Beacon School of Technology. The course will take 1 year to complete.
The top-up programme will include level 2 and level 3 modules. You will study a total of 100 credits – 40 from level 1 and 60 from level 2.
Level 2 modules will be delivered by Beacon staff. Classes will be conducted 3 times a week (6 hours) for 18 weeks
Level 3 modules will be delivered by University of Glamorgan staff in block mode over a long weekend from Friday to Sunday. For each module (20 credits) you will study for 2 weekends – Friday evening (4 hours), Saturday (8 hours) and Sunday (8 hours).

Level 2 – Delivered by Beacon academics and tutors
Group Project (20 credits) and either Professional Information Systems Development (20 credits) OR Professional Practice (10 credits) plus 00 Analysis and Design (10 credits)
Level 3 – Delivered by the University of Glamorgan in Singapore
eCommerce Systems and Strategy (20 credits)
Strategic IS Management (20 credits)
Advanced Database and Modelling (20 credits)
What Support will I get?
- Staff available as your main support on campus and through email
- Links to tutors and LRC facilities, via Blackboard
- Support from student services through electronic information
- Student handbooks provided with module content and information
- You will have a 2 day induction before the course starts
- CDROM of software and other electronic resources
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a mixture of coursework and exams.
