CEMAS and the Faculty of Advanced Technology have organised a seminar hosted by Alacrity Foundation which will promote the entrepreneurship/training opportunities available to University of Glamorgan MSc Engineering and Computer Sciences Students through the Alacrity Training Programme.
Who Are Alacrity?
The Alacrity Foundation is a collaboration between the Welsh Government, The Waterloo Foundation and Wesley Clover Corporation. The Foundation has been established with a mandate of turning engineering and computer science graduates into entrepreneurs through practical business training. If you are smart, motivated and a team player and want to pursue a career or further your education in technology and innovation then read on:
Entrepreneurship@Alacrity Opportunities
The Alacrity Foundation is focused on the development and mentorship of the brightest and best engineering and computer science graduates from UK universities. The Alacrity ‘boot camp’ is a proven world-class methodology for commercializing technology and for creating entrepreneurs. Graduates have the opportunity to transform innovative project ideas into market leading products and to be Founders of a start-up company. Successful graduates will have an equity stake in the company and The Alacrity Foundation provides the infrastructure and support for the new entity.
Entrepreneurship@Alacrity Boot Camp
A graduate joining the Alacrity ‘boot camp’ training programme will spend 9 – 12 months working on technology commercialization projects for which real world demand has been identified. Graduates will work in small incubator project teams. Project selection will be an interactive process and will involve collaboration between Foundation executives and advisors, industry partners and mentoring participants including Sir Terence Matthews.
Once projects are selected, teams proceed with their boot camp training under the guidance of Alacrity Foundation and industry partner executives. Industry partners provide project teams with operational support, a vast network of contacts, access to markets and strategic relationships with larger established companies.
Entrepreneurship@Alacrity participants gain real world business experience and learn best practices from seasoned and successful entrepreneurs. Skills and knowledge are gained in a variety of business disciplines that equip the participants to manage the operations of a new technology company upon project completion.
Subject matter of the projects will be focused primarily on software, targeting information and communication technologies including broadband, enterprise, and mobile applications – areas for which the Foundation’s industry partners have most influence in global markets.
Entrepreneurship@Alacrity Application Process
If you have the conviction, personality and ability to be included in the Alacrity programme we would like to hear from you.
